Scripture Songs by Jeanne Tomlinson

One of Jeanne Tomlinson's desires for many years has been to communicate the Word of God in "songs, hymns and spiritual songs" (Ephesians 5:19). For most of her adult life, Jeanne has sung and played guitar or piano with children and adults, teaching them God's truth through simple Bible-based songs, both her own and those of others. Over the years, Jeanne has written about 30 songs mostly with texts taken from the Bible. In 1990, she attempted to record some of these and get them published, but with the trials of her husband's brain surgeries and other pressures, she had to concentrate on other, more pressing needs.

Now that Jeanne is battling cancer and is too weak to even think of these old projects, her family thought it would cheer her up to be able to hear them performed a little more professionally. Her brother Dave has a MIDI studio and recently brought some of these songs to life with strings, brass, and other instruments, using Jeanne's own voice and guitar from that old 1990 tape. He selected four songs especially appropriate for someone undergoing trials and needing courage -- songs Jeanne had written years before to encourage others. After arranging, performing and recording them over several long, late nights, he rushed the tape to her bedside on May 28, 2000. Jeanne was greatly encouraged by the music! We hope you will be, too.

Note: The voice and guitar parts were imported from a cassette made without professional recording equipment. They have been enhanced as much as possible, but we trust the listener will understand that they are especially meaningful "as is" using Jeanne's own voice, considering what she has suffered. In this way we can hear the words coming out of her own heart.
